BardenMe Contest Rules and Regulations
1. SUBJECT THEMES:
  Each Essay shall contain no more than 200 type written ENGLISH words. The subject of your Essay should be focused on why you should receive one year of no mortgage payments on your new construction project utilizing a Barden Material Package from The Barden & Robeson Corporation d/b/a Barden Building Systems (“Barden”) and your Essay should begin with the words “I should receive one year of free mortgage payments because...”
2. CONTEST AWARD:
  Monthly mortgage payments on a permanent loan from your new construction project utilizing a Barden Material Package will be paid by Barden for one (1) year up to a maximum amount of $25,000.  In the event that the winning essayist pays cash for the Barden Materials Package (and therefore does not have a mortgage), such essayist shall be entitled to a cash award of $25,000.
3. ELIGIBILITY:
  An Essay may be entered by anyone 18 years of age or older of contractual capacity residing in the continental United States east of the Mississippi or in Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, or London of the province Ontario. Contest judges, owners and employees of Barden Building System (and their affiliates) and the immediate families of those previously mentioned are DISQUALIFIED and MAY NOT participate as entrants in the contest. Only one Essay entry per household is permitted.
4. JUDGES:
  The Cowley Agency has been contracted to review the Essays submitted and will select the top 25 Essays that best fit the criteria described in Section 5 below by June 30, 2008.  A panel of Barden employees will then subjectively evaluate the top 25 Essays chosen by The Cowley Agency to determine the Contest Winner, and will rank the remaining Essays as 1st runner up, 2nd runner up, a 3rd runner up, etc.   All selections made by the panel of Barden employees will be final.
5. STANDARDS FOR JUDGING:
 
A. Prior to submission for judging, each Essay shall be identified by a unique contest number assigned to an Essay upon submission. Neither the Cowley Agency nor the panel of Barden Employees shall know the name of any Essay writer.
B. Each submitted Essay shall be read and evaluated.
C. Each submitted Essay which meets the stated technical requirements shall be judged on the basis of any and all positive social values, including art & humor, poetry or prose, using geographic, historical, economic or religious references as long as the Essay conveys a compelling reason why you should receive one year of no mortgage payments on your purchase of a Barden Materials System from Barden.
D. While writing skills, spelling and punctuation will be evaluated and judged, the most important criteria will be the contents of the Essay.
6. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  Each entrant will provide full legal name, address, telephone number(s), Fax number(s), and E-mail address upon submission of an Essay.
7. DEADLINES AND RUNNERS UP:
 
A. The Contest will be open for submission of Essays beginning January 27, 2008 and Essays must be submitted via the Bardenme.com website prior to 11:59 on June 30, 2008. Responsibility for lost or late or misdirected Essay entries rests with the entrant.
B. The winning Essay and Runners-up will be determined on or before August 1, 2008.
C. If a winner refuses to accept the Contest Award or does not purchase a Barden Materials System from Barden, then the Contest Award shall be awarded to the 1st Runner up. If the 1st Runner up refuses to accept the Contest Award or does not purchase a Barden Materials System from Barden, then the Contest Award shall be awarded to the 2nd Runner up. This process shall proceed through the ranked Runners up until an entrant accepts the Contest Award or all Runners up shall have refused the Contest Award or shall have declined to purchase a Barden Materials System from Barden.
D. The winning Essay shall be published on the Internet website Bardenme.com on or before September 1, 2008.
E. The judges will issue a short statement as to why the winning Essay was selected, which will be published along with the winning Essay on the Bardenme.com website.
8. COPYRIGHT AND PUBLICATIONS:
  Each Essay entry constitutes an assignment to Barden, its successors and assigns of all copyrights arising under both statutory and common law and all other derivative there from. By entering this Essay Contest, the entrant grants future permission for Barden to publish all or part of the submitted Essay and to use the entrant's name and photograph and to publicize the winning Essay, all without royalty or consideration - if desired by Barden.
9. STATE, FEDERAL AND INTERNATIONAL REGULATIONS:
  This contest is subject to the provisions of all applicable International, State and local laws and regulations. This offer is void where prohibited.
10. TAXES, FEES:
  The recipient of the Contest Award shall be solely responsible for any and all taxes of any kind arising out of successful participation in this Essay Contest.
11. RELEASE:
  By participating in this contest or accepting the Contest Award, all entrants agree to release Barden, their parents, subsidiaries, affiliated and successor companies, advertising and promotion agencies and Contest Award suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees from any and all actions, claims, injury, loss or damage arising in any manner, directly or indirectly, from participation in this contest and/or acceptance or use of the Contest Award.
